Fashion News Friday: Lady Gaga Disses Cathy Horyn; Tavi Gevinson to Launch a Website

Mother Monster had a few harsh words for celebrated New York Times fashion critic Cathy Horyn. In the latest issue of V magazine, Gaga writes:

“In the age of the Internet, when collections and performances are so accessible to the public and anyone can post a review on Facebook or Twitter, shouldn’t columnists and reviewers, such as Cathy Horyn, employ a more modern and forward approach to criticism, one that separates them from the average individual at home on their laptop?” [Racked]

 

JBrand jeans are pretty much celebrity wardrobe staples. And now, it’s been confirmed that the brand will launch a sportswear collection next year. The 140-piece line will include tees, blazers, leather jackets, and even more pants. Prices will range from $200 to $1,500. [Elle]

 

Let’s admit it: most of us are more than a little obsessed with Tavi Gevinson’s blog. And now, this pint sized fashionista will launch her new website, Rookie, on Monday. I’ll admit it: despite considering myself the creative type, I’ve never once stopped and thought about what my go-to sites would look like as frilly frocks. Luckily, artist Victor Farentina has done the work for us.

Designers Celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee With Chic Crowns

Oh, if only I could call myself Queen of England. Though I’ll never get to wear one of these crowns, I did come pretty darn close to one.

For Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee, Harrods partnered with nearly three dozen of fashion’s hottest names to re-design the famed St. Edwards Crown (aka the glorious coronation headpiece). 

The company for which I work was asked to design a crown, so yes, I touched one of these gorgeous toppers. 

But my favorite one by far was Lanvin’s design pictured above. Shhh! My boss doesn’t have to know.
