Summer Polish Pick: Sephora by OPI Mermaid to Order

Ironically, blue nail polish hues have been heating up the summer. Though you can take you pick from a seemingly countless number of blue shades, I would highly recommend picking up Mermaid to Order, a metallic teal polish from Sephora’s OPI collection.

Lump free, with just the right amount of shimmer, you’ll feel like a mermaid princess who has just earned her legs…or maybe that’s just my overactive imagination/Ariel obsession talking.

And even if you plan on taking a few dunks in the ocean, this polish is chip resistant. Feel free to cool off and kick some sand around while staying totally carefree.

Let the good times roll.

$9.50, Sephora.com

Fashion News Friday: Chanel Creates an FNO Polish Line, Celebs Commit Fashion Sins, and Catalogs Come to Your iPad

**Originally posted by me on the fab ChicInspector.com

Chanel never fails to wow me! In honor of Fashion’s Night Out on September 8, the company’s makeup artist went ahead and designed denim for our fingernails. The new polishes –appropriately named Blue Rebel, Coco Blue, and Blue Boy –will be available for one month starting September 8. [Elle]

French designer Jours Après Lunes has launched a “loungerie” (lingerie + loungewear) line for girls ages 3 months and up, causing a complete ruckus in the blogosphere. You’ll know what I mean once you take a peek at the comments section of Fashionista. While some of the designs appear harmless –looking much like what you’d see on a little girl at the beach –the provocative poses and layers of makeup on these little girls is nothing short of horrifying! [Fashionista]

Blake Lively goes (way too) orange, Olivia Wilde is a ‘dot mess’, and Emma Stone actually manages to look like a total drab! [BettyConfidential]

A big win for the eco-conscious fashionista: a brand new iPad app called Google Catalogs will place your favorite catalogs at your fingertips – minus the destruction of trees. Participating brands include Alloy, Anthropologie, Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Ralph Lauren Rugby, Patagonia, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Urban Outfitters. Oh, and the best part is that if you see something you need to have, simply click on the item to purchase. So much better than mail order! [Racked]

Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney’s Kardashian Kollection has already launched at Sears, but don’t think Mama Kardashian will let the girls have all the fun. Kris’ QVC line is slated to debut on September 8 and pieces will range from $35 -$145. Good luck! [WWD]

Sally Hansen Nail Strips: Not a Sticky Situation

Aw, man…the ladies over at Refinery 29 found out the hard way that you can’t save those extra Sally Hansen nail strips. Shani Silver reports:

"Once opened and left to sit (even in an airtight container, ugh), they will no longer work. The sticky is gone. We repeat, the sticky is gone!”

Nail Polish Inspired by the ‘Hunger Games’? Yes, please!

I can barely contain my excitement over these pretty polishes. Note to potential Valentines: Since this 12-piece China Glaze collection drops in February 2012, forget the flowers and boxes of chocolate -just go for the polish! Yes, even Baker’s Son, because who wouldn’t try to rock a shade inspired by Peeta (even though it goes with nothing I own…)?!

My favorites, however, are most definitely the glittery ones -they’ll add some serious pizzazz to my wardrobe. Get ready to battle for this line Hunger Games-style, ‘cause I’m ready for a fight to the finish over every last bottle!

Saturday Obsession: St. Patrick’s Day Nail Art

Though I’m not even a little bit Irish, it’s hard not to covet all the gorgeous St. Patty’s Day nail art floating around Pinterest. With that said, if you’re scrambling to put together something festive without being tacky (put the beads and shamrock tee away!), check out these greens and start painting.

Would You Rock a Caviar Mani?

The ladies over at Fashionista are reporting that caviar nails might just be the next big thing in the world of manicures. Forget crackle polish: now you can sport tiny beads on your tips.

British brand Ciaté will release a “Caviar mani” kit this April in Sephora stores across the country. You’ll be able to choose from black, white, or multi.

We’re still torn over this one, but we’ll be watching the drugstore aisles in the coming months just in case.

Saturday Obsession: Crayola Nail Polish

I am totally grateful to BettyConfidential for whisking me back to my childhood (I think I’ll turn on the Saturday morning cartoons now, you guys).

And what better way to reminisce than with this amazing little box of Crayola crayon nail polish. At just $12 for a set of 8, they could satisfy the kid in you…and all of your friends! Scoop ‘em up on Fredflare.com

Colors include: Scarlet, Cotton Candy, Wild Strawberry, Robin’s Egg Blue, Canary, Orange, Blue Bell, and Plum. And the Bettys report that you can choose from a glitter, metallic, or classic finish —meaning there’s something for nearly any gal out there!

Much like our youth, I’m predicting that these funky sets will be gone in a flash. So what are you waiting for?

Nail Polish Fiends, Rejoice! China Glaze’s App Can Find Shades to Match Anything

Have you ever been a bit jealous of your BFF’s gorgeous green irises, your coworker’s ah-may-zing crimson trench coat, or your kitten’s burnt orange fur (cat lady solidarity!)? Yeah, so have we. But instead of colored contacts or a shopping spree, you’ll find us painting our nails with the hues we’ve been obsessing over. And we have China Glaze’s cool new app to thank for that!

Free and available to iPhone and iPad users, the app is ridiculously easy to use. Simply download it, point and shoot a photo, and touch a spot on the image to check out your lacquer options. Fall in love with a shade? See how it would look with your skin tone and order the color in minutes with a few taps of your iPhone.

And with that, China Glaze’s app earns its place on our list of biggest time sucks ever, right after Facebook. Our nails, however, have never been happier.
