Fashion in 500 words or less from a BettyConfidential.com editor. xo Diana Denza
Whether you’re a die-hard supporter or adamant foe of the Obama campaign, you have to admit: America’s leading couple knows fashion.
So it comes as no surprise that Barack and the ultra chic, designer-clad Michelle would team up with the likes of Jason Wu, Marc Jacobs, Thakoon, Diane von Furstenberg, Torie Burch, Prabal Gurung, and Alexander Wang.
The result: a host of campaign merch that definitely has our votes! Obama fans can own the above Derek Lam tote for $75. Most of the tees are priced at $45, but if you’re looking to make a statement, you can scoop up a silk Thakoon scarf for $95.
You can pre-order these items now, but you’ll have to wait until next month for them to arrive at your doorstep.
Is this haute collab a ‘Runway to Win’ as the Obama campaign believes? We’ll simply have to wait and see!
Marc Jacobs already has a drool worthy selection of handbags, clothing, and accessories. And pretty soon, we might just be adding one of fashion’s leading men to our beauty bags.
According to WWD, Jacobs has been busy chatting with Sephora about a makeup line, though the exact deets aren’t clear yet.
We’re hoping for bright and bold lip colors, standout polishes, and high volume mascaras (aka the stuff daydreams are made of). Keep your fingers crossed for this one, ladies!
On Wednesday, President Obama told the United States, "It is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couples should be able to get married."
As a lesbian in a committed, loving relationship, his words (though a bit late) were a major highlight of my week. And these adorable Little Marc Jacobs shirts didn’t hurt, either.
The tees, created for the children of same-sex parents, were spotted by the astute editors at Refinery29. The screen prints read, "If Mom says no, ask Mom" or "If Dad says no, ask Dad."
Um…adorable! But best of all, every last cent of the proceeds from each $35 tee go to the Human Rights Campaign (the biggest organization dedicated to LGBT rights).
With Mothers’ Day and Fathers’ Day (see what I did there?) right around the corner, why not gift the loved ones in your life an equali-tee?
I have (three) pieces of holiday news so big that you won’t even complain about the super-duper early mention. Warning: you might not want to pass this memo around the office, ‘cause I’m not responsible for gals fainting in their heels!
The first piece: Target is slated to release a capsule collection in time for this year’s holiday season.
The second piece: It involves designers…two dozen of them to be exact. Oh, and a little upscale department store called Neiman Marcus.
Here’s the entire list of designers via Racked.com:
Alice + Olivia
Band of Outsiders
Diane von Furstenberg
Oscar de la Renta
Rag & Bone
Still with me? Good.
The third piece: Prices will start at a mere $7.99 (the cost of lunch!) and the most expensive item will reach $499.99. However, Racked reports that most pieces will be under $60.
Though you’ll have to wait until December 1, 2012 for the goods to hit Target and Neiman Marcus stores and online, expect everything from dresses to cute picks for your pets.
I’ve never been more excited for holiday shopping (and I’m still in sandals!).
Just when we thought we had enough beauty products to last us through 2013 (thanks, post-holiday sales!), Marc Jacobs told WWD that his cosmetics line with Sephora will drop this fall. In the same conversation, the design maven explained toexecutive editor Bridget Foley:
“I always wonder, ‘Is there really going to be something else [other than fashion] that we’re going to do that I’m going to sit through and enjoy?’ I get jaded, then I get excited all over again.”
For us, excited is an understatement when we think of this sure-to-be-fabulous beauty line!
