Olivia Culpo Takes Home the Miss USA Crown; Supports Transgender Contestants

I can’t help but covet Olivia Culpo’s impeccable locks and impossibly clear skin. So when the 20-year-old beauty won the title of Miss USA last night, I wasn’t exactly surprised.
But I was rather pleased with her clean and coherent (I’m looking at you, Lauren Caitlin Upton) answer to the question, “Would you feel it would be fair that a transgender woman wins the Miss USA title over a natural-born woman?”
“I do think that that would be fair, but I can understand that people would be a little apprehensive to take that road because there is a tradition of natural-born women. But today where there are so many surgeries and so many people out there who have a need to change for a happier life, I do accept that because I believe it’s a free country.”
Her statement comes on the heels of a controversy surrounding a transgender Miss Universe Canada contestant, who was initially disqualified for not being a “natural born female.”
Well played, Olivia. Well played.
