Alexa Chung to Return to Madewell Next Month

I am so excited! In just one short month, Alexa Chung’s second collection for Madewell will hit stores.

I, for one, know that my lunch break on September 22nd will be spent falling head over heels for this designer’s sure to be gorgeous new pieces.

Elle magazine reported that Chung was inspired by “girls in bands who live their looks.”

Fashion News Friday: Conde Nast to Open School; ‘Gossip Girl’ Collection to Hit Stores

Ever dream of being educated in fashion by Conde Nast? That can now be a reality, thanks to the magazine house’s move to create the London-based Conde Nast International School of Fashion and Design. The school is slated for a 2012 opening, so if you’re looking to send in an application or just want the dets, check out Racked.

So what if you’re late for your lunch date? You must check out the Alexa Chung for Madewell look book. I promise it’ll be even better than the eye candy waiting downstairs. [Fashionista]

Bored at work or procrastinating on homework? Need the scoop on fashion week? Check out Lucky magazine’s extensive online coverage. It’s so much more fun than Facebook stalking your exes. [Lucky]

Alexander Wang devotees, take note: the renowned fashion designer will grace the cover of Out magazine’s October issue. Pick up your copy –and the exclusive interview that waits–on September 20. [Racked]

Romeo and Juliet Couture will release a Gossip Girl collection later this month. It’s about two years too late, but for some reason, I’m still ridiculously excited. [Elle]

Remember Nicki Minaj’s seriously attention-grabbing outfit at Fashion Week’s Carolina Herrera show? Well, apparently, her rainbow pom-pom concoction was ripped off from a 21-year-old designer.

Jessica Rogers of SomeDayNewYorker said:

"When I saw the photos [of Minaj at Carolina Herrera] I was in tears. I’ve worked very hard to make my dream of being a fashion designer come true. I have built contacts with Teen Vogue, Gaga, Katy Perry, and Marina and the Diamonds has worn my garments. [Now,] I feel like everything has crumbled down.” [Fashionista]

Alexa Chung Designs a Super Cute Bear!

Alexa Chung has joined the ranks of designers like Erdem, Katie Hillier, Mulberry, and Giles Deacon —at least when it comes to Pudsey bears.

The beloved fashionista and Vogue cover girl has designed a bear to raise money for BBC’s Children in Need charity. The company-formed organization helps UK kids in need.

"I’ve grown up with BBC Children in Need and it’s always amazing to see the power it has in bringing the UK together to help disadvantaged children," Chung said. "The lengths people go to, to raise money is extraordinary and this was, I hope, my way of making a difference."

Traditionally yellow, a host of famed designers have recently been transforming Pudsey into works of art. Works that, of course, come with a hefty price tag.

You can find Alexa’s bear on eBay. Remember: if you decide to splurge, all proceeds will go to this worthy cause. Good luck, gals!

Saturday Obsession: Bows (Lots of ‘Em)

This spring, bow down to the bow trend like Alexa Chung and Michelle Williams. These style stars have recently been spotted rocking bowed heels…hard.

The best part: since this huge mild obsession is so widespread, you don’t need a star-sized budget to afford highly feminine, super adorable kicks.

We’re already in spring fling mode with these shoes!

It’s Happening: Gossip Girl x Alexa Chung

It wouldn’t be the sixth and final season of Gossip Girl without fashionistas coming out in full force. Now, in addition to Serena and friends, you’ll soon be able to feast your eyes on the ever chic Alexa Chung

Fashionista reports that the style world’s leading lady will make a cameo on GG as none other than…(drumroll)…Alexa Chung! That’s right: she’ll be playing herself.

So watch out, Lonely Boy, ‘cause we can’t help but think this gal’s a heartbreaker.

Catch Gossip Girl on The CW on Monday, Oct. 8 at 9 p.m. EST.

It’s Happening: Alexa Chung is Starting a Fashion Line

"It was only a matter of time." Racked.com said it first, but I couldn’t help but think it as soon as I spotted the headline. Apparently, Numero Tokyo's October cover girl isn't satisfied with being an object of street style envy and a Gossip Girl guest star —and that’s more than fine with us!

"I’ve got nothing to lose, it’s a bit of fun," Chung told the mag. "In this current era of celebrity no one believes you actually design the stuff anyway, even though I sketch everything myself. So if it sucks I can say I had nothing to do with it, and if it’s really good I can say ‘Here are the drawings, it’s all my own work!"

Judging from her usual trendy getups, we’re expecting that any collection bearing the Alexa Chung name will fly off the racks!

It-Girl Alexa Chung is Penning Her First Book

Fashionistas, rejoice! Alexa Chung, who took the style world by storm with her many talents and fabulous wardrobe, is writing her first book.

Vogue UK reports that the currently untitled work will include Chung’s style secrets, personal influences, and how she manages to make headlines with her elegant ensembles.

The book will come complete with her own drawings, sketches, and photos and is slated for a September 2013 release. Does this sound like a good idea, or does this sound like a GOOD idea?!

The PSA You Need to Watch (It Stars Tavi Gevinson and Alexa Chung!)

Those of you who regularly read this blog know how much I love stalking the fashion sites for all things girly and chic. From Alexa Chung to Gossip Girl and everything in between, penning style stories is one of my passions.

But there’s something you may not know about me: I am a lesbian. I am in a committed relationship with a wonderful, intelligent, charming woman. We would like to get married one day, and our rights are at stake this election season.

I have tried my best to be non-political on this blog in the past, but the time for that is over. Here’s what Rebecca Fernandez, senior editor of Zooey Deschanel’s HelloGiggles.com (and someone I greatly admire), had to say about defending our rights this November

"Women constitute more than half of the population. In 2008, 60% of voters were women. It is estimated that 10 million more women than men will vote in this election. Despite this, women make up only 16% of Congress. Women earn only 70 cents to each dollar men make. Women of color and undocumented women make less than white citizens. Mitt Romney and the Republican Party are determined to overturn Roe V. Wade. Romney has not supported equal pay for women (The Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act). Romney has vowed to defund Planned Parenthood. Romney has vowed to repeal the Affordable Care Act. Romney doesn’t want health care to cover birth control. Romney says same sex marriage should be banned with a Constitutional Amendment.

Women, let’s rise up. Our vote alone can win this election. A vote for Obama is a vote for your health and your right to choose. It is a vote for equal pay and equal rights. A vote for Obama is a vote for our families. It is a vote to marry who you choose. It’s a vote to start a family when you choose. A vote for Obama says that we won’t stand for violence against women and that rape is rape. Our vote ensures that our daughters will grow up with the same rights that we’ve had. A vote for Obama sends a message: This war on women must end. We will not go backwards.

This election is shockingly close. Our safety is at stake. Our silence is consent and our vote is our voice. Let’s get active. Let’s get out every vote we can. Let’s make this election a mandate. A mandate to finally ensure women the respect, dignity and equality we all deserve! This is now. This is our call to action. Once and for all, let’s take back the power that is so inherently and naturally ours!”
